What is Ignition Front?
Ignition Front (IF) is the national mass organization and action-oriented arm of Youth Climate Finance Alliance (YCFA), building democratically controlled, locally led chapters that build eco-socialist youth power to take on fossil imperialist villains. We’re creating honest, caring, strategic, and brave organizing spaces for young people within the imperial core to build organizational formations that have the power to win and halt the outgoing flow of arms, fuel, and capital to imperialism worldwide.
Ignition Front chapters' initial campaigns will target Citibank by disrupting their recruitment pipeline efforts.
Why Citi?
Citi represents the systems we are fighting against: Fossil imperialism and Fossil capitalism. A top funder of fossil fuels globally, Citibank has poured a staggering $486,573.33 Billion into fossil fuels since the 2016 Paris Agreement. Citibank is the world’s biggest funder of fossil fuel expansion projects specifically, demonstrating that they have no serious commitment to the energy transition. Citi was also the first (and remains the largest) foreign financial institution in israel, playing a key role in enabling flow of arms, fuel, and capital from the so-called US to israel. As of January 2024, Citi had participated in financing the state of israel to the tune of $2.89 Billion since just October 7th, 2023 (Banktrack).
