Guided by Marxist analytical tools and lessons from successful base-building campaigns, YCFA’s Summer of Study will equip youth organizers to strategically intervene in U.S.-led, fossil-fueled imperialism by first understanding their city’s role within it, then building the scaffolding for leaderful campaigns rooted in their people’s experience.

We’re seeking eager participants from across the so-called United States to cross-pollinate our learnings across regions — the more who join, the greater the insights will be for everyone.

Apply to join us for the July sessions of Summer of Study by July 5th!

📢 What is the Summer of Study?:

YCFA’s Summer of Study is a 3-part training series that spans Summer 2026, with 2 participation track options. Each month of the program will have its own focus and outcomes, giving participants the flexibility to join for one or two months rather than all three, if needed.

  • June: Analyzing Local Political Economies to Impact Global Imperialism

  • July: Building Mass Protagonism through Campaigns

  • August: Studying Your People Paves The Path to Victory

Each month will consist of three sessions:

  • Session A (lecture): 2-hour synchronous online lecture hosted by YCFA and a partner organization

  • Session B (practicum): EITHER a 90-minute in-person activity led by the participants themselves OR a roughly 30-minute asynchronous activity, depending on the participant’s track

  • Session C (discussion): 1-hour synchronous online discussion hosted by YCFA to debrief and cross-pollinate learnings from the B (practicum) session

Participation Tracks:

Participants can choose to engage with the program through either of the following tracks:

🪵Kindling: register and participate as an individual organizer

  • Attends Session A (lecture) once per month.

  • Completes an asynchronous practical application worksheet between sessions.

  • Attends Session C (discussion) once per month.

🔥Flames: register and participate as a cohort of comrades who live locally or who work on a shared project. We recommend forming cohorts of roughly 4-8 organizers.

  • Attends Session A (lecture) once per month.

  • Takes shared responsibility for organizing Session B (practicum) with their small group cohort once per month.

  • Attends Session C (discussion) once per month, sharing out the ‘product’ from their in-person practicum.

Flames will receive a certificate of completion once they’ve completed all three B (practicum) sessions and received feedback from YCFA coaches.*

Current Ignition Front Captains should plan to attend at least 2 A (lecture) sessions and at least 2 C (discussion) sessions.

*While we highly encourage cohorts to stick to our training schedule and complete all practicum by

August 25th, we recognize that projects like these may require extra time. To receive your certificates,

please complete at least 2 B (practicum) sessions by August 31st, and all 3 B (practicum) sessions by

September 1st.
